Since January 2007 it is required to take DNA of unidentified human remains or of unidentified human body parts, before they are buried. The police therefore started the project DNA database. The purpose of this project is to dig up all unidentified human remains or unidentified human body parts, that were buried in the Netherlands before 2007, and to identify these human remains or human body parts. The DNA material comes in the DNA-database for Missing Persons (managed by the police).
