The woman with the Belgian connection
- Nederlands
- English
Who is the deceased woman who was found along the Maas river near Maastricht on January 6, 2013? Her body may have drifted from Belgium to the Netherlands and washed up here. Based on a scan of her skull, an impression was made of what she may have looked like, but in reality she may have looked very different. The color of her hair, her eyes and her skin are all unknown. The most important clues to her identity are her jewelry. Besides a tongue piercing, the woman also wore a remarkable ring and a necklace with markings. Anyone who suspects who the woman might be is asked to contact the police.

Description
(Vous pouvez lire une traduction française via ce lien)
The river Maas flows into the Netherlands from the direction of the Belgian city of Liège. The body of the unknown victim probably floated along this river towards the Netherlands. Just across the border, near Maastricht, there are two lakes next to each other that are connected to the Maas, the Pietersplas and Grindgat Oost-Maarland. The body of an unknown woman was found there on the shore on January 6. Her body was among some goods that had washed up at that location. There is a DNA match between the woman and a blood trail in a Belgian criminal case, but this match has not led to the woman's identity. The woman's body was in an advanced state of decomposition and therefore little is known about what the woman looked like. Because the body was unclothed, only her jewelry remains as clues to her identity.
The ring with the fish
For example, the woman wore a very specific ring with a charm in the shape of a fish. There is a pink colored stone in the middle of the fish. The ring is from the Clio Blue brand in size 58. This type was mainly sold in the Belgian region around Liège at the time. The photo shows what the ring looked like when it was found and what the ring probably looked like when it was still new and how the victim might have worn it. Do you know someone who wore such a ring around 2012 and who may have disappeared after January 6, 2013? Then report this to the police.
The tongue piercing
The woman had a silver-colored piercing in her tongue. There was a silver-colored round button at the top and bottom.
The watch with the stones
The woman also wore a watch with specific features. The timepiece was from the Japanese brand Q&Q and had the serial number: GQ20j204Y. Remarkable features of the watch are the white dial with the text Q&Q Quartz in black letters and large black numbers. There are small decorative stones around the dial. The watch strap was silver colored. The photo shows the watch as it was found and as it must have looked when it was new.
The chain with the markings
The woman also wore a silver chain. There have been made some engravings in the chain, including the letters SL. This could possibly be a brand, but the letters could also be initials. There are also small arrows visible in the chain. The woman also wore a simple stainless steel ring with one stone in it.
