Purpose and method of No More Leaks

With the No More Leaks project, the police aim to prevent the misuse of login credentials by providing 'hashed' login credentials to parties with many online account holders. Hashing means "encrypting" data using a mathematical calculation. Participating parties can use the police hash list as an additional security measure in their login process. If the hashes match, the customer in question will receive a password change request from the company to prevent potential losses.

Its effectiveness increases as the number of login credentials provided by the police grows and as more companies participate. Participation is free and aims to make Dutch society more digitally secure, make businesses more resilient and reduce customer account misuse - and the resulting crime.
