For what purpose are the police using personal data in the No More Leaks project?
The police take a comprehensive approach to combating cybercrime and consider which actions (prevention, disruption, prosecution), or a combination thereof, are most effective. The personal data in No More Leaks is shared with parties, who may use the checklists as an additional security measure for their login process. If a login combination on the checklist is used, the customer - the account holder with the leaked password - is notified by the relevant company to change the password. That makes the whole system more secure: rogue login attempts are prevented at the front end.
